Café Plus

Café Plus is the focal point for Elim’s ministry in the Holme Valley. Situated on Westgate in the centre of Honley, it is, as its name suggests, more than just a café.

Physical Refreshment

The café provides local people and visitors with refreshing drinks and tasty, light meals between 7.30am and 4pm, Monday–Friday and 9am to 3pm on Saturdays. It is staffed by paid and volunteer workers who want to meet and share the love of Jesus in a very practical way. We do not push our beliefs on to our customers, but we hope our faith is apparent to all who enter the premises.

Spiritual Refreshment

There is always someone ready to listen or talk to anyone who wishes to chat or share a need. Over the years many café workers have been able to encourage and pray with customers and help give them a greater understanding of God’s love for them. Many of the café‘s customers have become good friends with staff. Many who are now members of the Elim Church say that their Christian journey began at Café Plus.

We offer a wide range of free Christian literature for customers to take and read at home. We also have a dedicated wall upon which anyone can leave a prayer request. Members of Elim Church Holme Valley pray regularly for the requests that are left; and customers frequently tell us of their answered prayers.

In 2007 Café Plus converted space on the lower floor into a prayer room. This is open when the café is trading for anyone to use for prayer and quiet reflection. We also use this room to pray with anyone who requests personal prayer for themselves, or wishes to join with others in praying for a need. God is gracious; and we have seen many breakthroughs in seemingly impossible situations as a result of prayer. Many have given their life to the Lord in this room.

The café is also the location for a number of smaller midweek meetings held by Elim Church Holme Valley.
